Improving plant performance is a joint effort
Commissioning our pipe blasting and coating equipment at the client’s site is something we still look forward to and enjoy doing at Selmers. Unlike with real children, this includes leaving our ‘baby’ in other people’s arms afterwards. Then again, it hardly ever ends there. We usually stay involved for its entire existence to literally watch and help it improve and stay safe in terms of optimal performance and minimal downtime.
In the past, this used to be an exclusive job for Operations. Maintenance wasn’t always part of the game and often used to be postponed as long as possible. After all, it only costs money, or so many thought. Today however, we increasingly realize that keeping tight maintenance schedules can significantly reduce downtime and thus improve the overall performance of the equipment. Continuous improvement is now a joint effort of Operations, Maintenance and Safety as well, both before and after the commissioning stage. For this reason, our aim is to pay each client site a visit on a regular basis. Though, we will postpone our visits to your site until the corona crisis has ended. Until this time you can best ask your account manager who will inform you about our ability to process assessments to your site via desktop.
Backwards and forward blasting
At the same time, a growing number of clients request regular visits on their own initiative, knowing that our experts know the equipment inside out. For various reasons, clients may wish to increase the output, either temporarily or permanently. A plant in Louisiana USA, for instance, recently asked us about the possibilities to blast both forward and backwards to speed up the process. Depending on the local situation and the budget available, this could be a viable option. In some cases, adjustments can be made by ‘simply’ adding or changing software via a secure VPN connection. Regardless of the exact solution involved, this may leverage possibilities to implement a similar solution at other sites too.
Optimal settings for all budgets
The same goes for finding the optimal settings for use in comparable plants. In that way, we all benefit. This includes production sites that work with equipment that has already run its course but has not yet been amortized. In Texas USA, for example, we have managed to merge seven old projects that were earlier used in Europe and Brazil into an entirely new and smoothly running production line at minimal expense. Together with clients around the world we will keep pushing the boundaries, both mechanically and in terms of improvements in the Selmers Plant Management System.
We will postpone our visits to your site until the corona crisis has ended. When the corona crisis has ended, we will be happy to visit you again. Until this time you can best ask your account manager or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org who will inform you about our ability to process assessments to your site via desktop. Stay safe. Together we are strong. We will bring our famous ‘stroopwafels’ when the time is right, that is a promise.
